What types of art restoration do you offer?
We restore oil paintings and works on canvas, including surface cleaning, varnish removal where appropriate, tear repair, lining, flaking paint consolidation and inpainting. How does the free survey work?
Call 07801 311972, message us on WhatsApp or use the quote wizard to describe your project. We arrange a visit or studio assessment, discuss condition and options, then provide a clear written scope and estimate. There is no obligation to proceed.
Which areas do you cover?
We are based at Evans House, Norman Street, Warrington WA2 7HW, and regularly work across Liverpool, Manchester, Greater Manchester, Cheshire, Lancashire and the wider North West. We travel for heritage and decorative projects in churches, councils, listed buildings and commercial interiors. Call us with your postcode and we will confirm availability.
Do you work with insurers after damage?
Yes. We can provide condition reports, photographs and treatment proposals to support insurance claims for fire, smoke, water or accidental damage. Tell us your claim reference when you enquire so we can align documentation with your loss adjuster or broker.
How is gilding different from using gold paint?
Gilding applies real gold leaf with traditional size over prepared surfaces. Burnished water gilding gives a deep, reflective finish suited to frames and interior ornament. Oil gilding suits many exterior projects. Metallic paint cannot match the depth or longevity of leaf when craftsmanship and preparation are done properly.
Can you match existing faux finishes or marbling?
We sample on site where possible and build trial boards before full application. Marbling, wood graining and scumble glazes are hand painted, so we match colour, veining and scale to your existing panelling, fireplaces or joinery rather than using off-the-shelf wallpapers or films.
What is the difference between restoration and conservation?
Restoration often aims to improve appearance and stability so a piece can be enjoyed again. Conservation emphasises reversible methods, minimal intervention and documentation, especially for antiques and heritage surfaces.
